“They just grow up so fast, don’t they?”
Yes, they do… and sadly, their clothes don’t grow with them!
If you’re a new parent, that means “baby clothes” has replaced “Caribbean vacation” at the top of your Christmas wish list… and you may still find yourself shaking the piggy bank by mid-Feb just to keep Junior warm.
Not only are baby clothes unnecessarily expensive, they cause a TON of waste. While you may be able to donate to your local Goodwill or send to a family member, that takes time – the most important resource new parents have. Sadly, that means baby clothes make up a huge portion of the 26 billion pounds of textiles entering landfills each year.
But now a startup is offering a solution that may solve all of these problems at once. The company, called UpChoose, makes baby clothing more affordable, reduces waste and even cuts down on shopping time!
So, how do they do it? Let’s check it out…
What is UpChoose?
UpChoose is a recently founded company that helps new parents find soft, sustainable and organic clothes at a fraction of the price.
The way it works is simple: First, you buy baby clothing for your baby. Then, when your child outgrows that clothing, you send it back to UpChoose and get a discount on a new set of clothing.
You can also choose a subscription model, where you receive a new bundle of baby clothes at the start of each phase of your baby’s growth. (You simply send back the old ones when you’re done.)
By doing this, the company says, “you pay less for high-quality, sustainable and organic baby clothes while saving time, reducing clutter and helping to protect our planet.”
Sounds good to us!
The clothes themselves are, naturally, made of sustainable materials. Their top focus is your baby’s comfort – but next to that, it’s cost efficiency and reduced waste.
In the future, the company will also offer toys, furniture and other products that lend themselves to second-hand sharing.
When it comes to innovative ideas, anything that cuts down on waste and reduces prices is a win for us… but when you throw in the fact that UpChoose also helps you spend less time shopping and reduces clutter in the closet, this one stands out.
You can learn more at the UpChoose website.
